Building an Orchard
Over 200 years ago our ancestors established the Peck Farm in East Montpelier to sustain their families and build a community. Eight generations later, we strive towards the same goals. Our small roadside pumpkin cart in 2012 soon led to bigger ideas. We've stayed busy over the last few years with prepping the orchard ground in 2013, planting a few thousand trees over the next two years, digging up and burning a few hundred trees that arrived with blight, excavating an irrigation pond, having three babies, selling our apples and pumpkins out of used Circus Smirkus tents, saying goodbye to our beloved Grampy, figuring out how to produce fresh cider on a larger scale, creating the corn maze, getting licensed to manufacture and sell our hard cider, constructing the orchard house with timber from our land, and cooking thousands upon thousands of fresh cider donuts all with the help of our family (all the way from Australia) and friends! It's been a joyful adventure so far!
